How do I respond when met with accusations, lies and cruelty. Today's chapter 7 reflects on Jesus before Annas the high priest gives me a clear model to follow. Jesus ever calm in spirit and speech is gentle in his response to such cruelty. it is a reminder to me to some soul searching on how I react and my response when I’m met with tribulations, unkindness and cruelty. This journey with Thomas Kempis is challenging in a tough but good way, as it has me questioning my responses and is encouraging me to examine things I don't necessarily think about but that are helpful in my journey towards self knowledge. It is also difficult to read in that it paints the unsensitized and brutal picture of what our Lord endured for my sake at the hands of those He created.

Christmas Eve

  Our Frist Christmas together in Texas - 1982 It's Christmas Eve morning and I am excited for whatever the day brings especially the coming of the birth of Jesus and the blessings and grace that await each new day.  This morning I’m also reflective with emotions and thoughts about my dad who died 23 years ago on Christmas Morning and my mom who died 27 years ago in November. In my heart I know that they are together in heaven celebrating with Jesus and all those I love who have gone home to glory and that brings peace and comfort to my heart.
