Day 7 is in the books!

Day 7 / 21 First week down and not only survive sticking 100 % to the program, we THRIVED!! I have also proven to myself that: - When I make my mind up to be all in and commit 100%, I do it - I can do anything, its all about  mindset.   - I don't have to like it, I just need to do it -  Preparation and planning is key and can make the difference between staying on track or falling off - My willingness to try new things has opened up a whole new world of options - I am learning new and healthy snack options that will help me long term - I don't have to snack after supper - I can survive without coffee And the food has not been too bad either, well some things have not been too bad. Last night we had delicious roasted root vegetables for dinner, I could have eaten a whole pan. It was delicious.  Along with the root veggies we had a zucchini- cashew soup that was actually quite tasty. Today's menu was similar to yesterday.  For breakfast we had

Not all meals are created equal!

Day 6 / 21 Have you ever dreaded something and then once it comes up it is not as bad as you imagined? This experience with the a 21 day reset to help bring my body back into its natural balance is a little like that and the pleasant surprise is that it has been not only not as bad as I though it would be.  It is actually so much better than I could have ever hoped. Now let me preface that, see this picture!   Yup, that was us this morning at breakfast eating marinated tempeh with our steamed kale and his and her ration of avocado.  I was less than delighted with the tempeh and John was not thrilled with either the tempeh or the kale.  But we ate it!   One of the things I am noticing is the flavor of the food, I was not really a fan of steamed kale, loved it in smoothies and sauteed with olive oil and fresh garlic but steam it, no way.   That has been a pleasant surprise.  And more surprising we had it a day or two after we started and then again today and it seems li

Early Sunday Mornings

Day 5/21 Early Sunday mornings used to be my jam!  I would spring out of bed in the wee hours, head downstairs and put on a pot of coffee and then spend some time reading, praying, reflecting.   Well I sprang out of bed this morning but there is no awesome aroma of coffee wafting through the house and I am not on my second cup as I write.  This morning because I am sticking diligently to this amazing journey that John and I have embarked on I am instead spending time with Jesus with a bottle of mineralized water.  And it's not so bad. I do miss my coffee, especially on a morning like this, but not having caffeine and all that acidity in my body seems to be making a difference and who knows if I will want to reintroduce it to my body once this cleanse is over.  But I don't have to make that decision today.  I simply need to be grateful for where I am at and remain present in the moment. One of the things that I tell my customers and my accountability groups is to not get

A blessed and beautiful day all around!

Day 4/21 is almost in the books.  It has been an amazing day weather wise and so were were able to soak up a bit of vitamin D and also to celebrate a 5 pound weight loss for John and a 4.7 for me, on day 4 that is certainly a great motivator. We were able to spend some time in our zero gravity bed before starting our day.   Both John and I have been having lower back pain. Mine is typical, I have a bad back, neck, spine and sciatica that goes down my leg. I mange it usually with keeping my core strong and on occasion taking ibuprophen.  Since being on the cleanse, I do not want to take anything so I have not taken any ibuprophen to manage the pain and perhaps that is why I feel it more acutely.  We are massaging and that helps and I am doing some easy core exercises ghat do not exert, I was able to crunch a bunch while laying in the zero gravity chair on the deck too!  Hey every opportunity to work my core and tuck it in I am taking because it beats the pain! John d

Already down a collective 8.1 pounds and it's only day 3!!

Wow what a day! We started the day on a high note when we got on the scale this morning on day 3 of 21 and saw that I lost 3.6 and John lost 4.5 pounds. So we were off to keep a good thing going with breakfast of eggs, steamed kale and whole grain toast.  John also got to have some mixed berries. I was so tempted to snag a blueberry as I was making it for him, but I stuck to plan and remembered that I was going to be having some raspberries with my yogurt and cinnamon for my snack later in the day so his blueberries were safe!    Lunch was a lime and lentil salad that was actually pretty good and the microgreen salad that I and I think John too could totally live without.  Its a good salad and we both ate every bite.  But I have a love hate relationship with salad and salad greens and I love my salads, when I am in the mood for them and so for me the best part  are the cucumbers, tomatoes and jicama. John not so much, the jicama is his least favorite part.  And we both love th

Day 2 of 21

Good Morning! Well its day 2 of our 21 day reset.  This is not as much of a challenge to our typical routine as I though it would be.   Okay let me preface that, so far!!   Taking the supplements during the day is a bit to get used to as I don't take take them typically.   But we have set alarms and programmed our hydration, supplements and meals in our phones so that is helping us to stay on track.   It also helps that my beloved and I are on the same page with a strong mindset to remain ALL IN and committed 100% to the program. But that does not mean smooth sailing.  G etting enough rest and a good nights sleep is an important component to the Reset.  I ended up working late into the night and not getting to bed as early as I would have liked last night.   Fortunately I have the day off from work today. I took a vacation day because I have a board meeting for the vacation time share board that I am on.  I am also the treasurer so I needed to get some things done before
Everything is better together!  That's All !

Day 1 of 21 is in the books!

Well Day 1 of 21 of our Ultimate Reset is in the books!! Our morning started out a bit hectic taking our before pictures, measurements and weight and so we got a later start than planned, but you know things happen so you make do and roll with it. We did and we still stuck to the program, got in a delicious breakfast and out of the house on time so it all worked out. I am not a fan of taking pills so the whole supplements part of this reset is probably my least favorite.  Not taking the supplements thy are awesome, its taking the pills I don't like.  I think that is one of the reasons I love my Shakeology so much.  I get all my vitamins from drinking my shake and I love not having to take pills anymore.  But you know what, I can do anything for 21 days.  So I am sucking them down. I am a bit surprised that I have not had a harder time giving up my coffee.  I have not had it in close to a week.  I miss it and I really missed it when I walked in the office today and one of the

The night before our reset and we are ready to go!

Today is the day before our reset, I still can't believe that we start tomorrow. I am a little hesitant and  lot excited.  Food is prepped, our lunches are packed and in the fridge and I am excited to get on the scale, take measurements and before pictures.   And our supplements are all organized and ready. I think I am going to call this the his and her cleanse lol!  And yes, I know, my organizing is a bit neurotic if I should say so myself!! I am also amazed at how much food is on the plan.  And they call this a cleanse!!  This is the microgreen salad that we are having for lunch tomorrow. I made a delicious balsamic vinagarette to go with it and we have the roasted pumpkin seeds  and the miso soup. I made a batch of miso soup for the week, oatmeal for the week and brown rice to use in a few of the recipes so that will make food prep easier the rest of the week.  And I have a few of our snacks all prepped and ready for the next few days. A little time in the kitc
